Title „Perlenketten“ im Hunsrückschiefer [„Pearl necklaces“ in the Hunsrück slate]
Year: 2024
Language: German
Source: Fossilien, 41 (1): 47-55
Keywords: Hunsrück slate, Lower Devonian, „pearl necklaces“, rhyolith veins, trace fossil Halimedides
Summary: There are in the Hunsrück slate „pearl necklaces“, that is to say both a geological and a paleontological one. Here I report from rhyolith veins and trace fossils grouped together as rhabdoglyphids. These horizontal burrows with swellings in their course, recently interpreted as storage chambers, are worldwide the first record from the Lower Devonian. The occurrence of Halimedes in the Hunsrück slate points to a settlement on a stiff (íntermediate medium between a softground and a firmground) seabed with a moderate oxydation level of the substratum.
